What was your first gig?
Playing with Roscoe Mitchell in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at 5 years old.
Favorite Walker West memory/experience?
Working with a child who had no sense of time, but did a year later – an experience that taught me you can teach people who are rhythmically challenged.

Why is music education so important?
In my experience, any person who has studied any form or aspect of the arts has a better quality of life.
Advice to young musicians?
Practice patience. Be honest with your weaknesses and work on them. Do not cheat, and be a champion!
