What are some performance/professional highlights?
I was recognized as the Dakota Foundation Jazz Educator of the Year recipient. I also received a Freedom Jazz Festival award and the Leigh Kamman award presented at 2013 Selby Jazz Festival for years of supporting up-and-coming musical artists in the Twin Cities.

What was your first gig?
Playing at Sophia’s in Minneapolis, MN

Favorite Walker West memory/experience?
My favorite memories are when I started the Youth Jazz Band Program. I have loved watching the youth jazz band performances, including the MLK and the St. Paul Winter Carnival performances.

Musical influences?
Jackie McLean and Hubert Laws.

Favorite album?
Coltrane Plays the Blues

Why is music education so important?
It serves to educate the mind, body and spirit.

Advice to young musicians?
Everything is about growth, and you will always get better.
