New Pilot Program for Adults 55+ shown over image of hands on keyboard

Walker|West presents a free new program for adult learners ages 55 and up. We will deliver a series of four individual, half-hour lessons via Skype.

This 4-lesson series is offered at no charge as a pilot program beginning the week of June 1. It will help us better understand the requirements of mature learners, so we can tailor our approach to meet their specific needs.

The program is open to beginner-to-advanced music learners who want to study:

  •         Piano/keyboards
  •         Wind instruments: saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder
  •         Brass instruments : trumpet, coronet, trombone, baritone, French horn, tuba
  •         String instruments: cello, bass, guitar, ukulele
  •         Percussion: drum kit, African drums
  •         Voice

To participate, individuals must have:

  •         Their own instrument
  •         An internet connect
  •         A computer or mobile device with a built-in microphone and camera
  •         A free Skype account

No Experience Required

No musical or technological experience is needed. A Walker|West Student Services staff member will contact you before your lessons begin to help you get set up.

After the four-lesson series is complete, we will bring participants together either in-person or online to socialize and share their experiences.

From Infants to Elders

This pilot will help Walker|West develop effective programming for mature learners, which we plan to introduce later this year. It is part of an effort to expand our programming to serve people of all ages, from infants to elders.

Registration is now closed.
